The Healing Garden is an educational nonprofit organization dedicated to providing integrative cancer care through therapeutic services, educational programs, and a healing environment for all people with a cancer diagnosis, as well as providing wellness education and support to promote cancer prevention for the community at large. It is located northwest of Boston, in Harvard, MA.
End With Care provides public, professional and institutional awareness regarding end-of-life issues. Along with valuable end-of-life related topics and information, End With Care’s central focus is to provide a comprehensive, interactive directory of end-of-life care and service providers, organizations and related agencies serving communities throughout Massachusetts.

The Hope and Friendship Metastatic Breast Cancer Foundation is a non-profit volunteer organization enhancing the lives of women and men with Metastatic Breast Cancer by offering support groups, resources for learning and networking, therapeutic activities, scholarships and creative retreats. The foundation also supports research for Metastatic Breast Cancer treatments.
Honoring Your Body & Spirit After Cancer: Gentle, mindful stretching and supported restorative poses invite your body to open, relax and heal. Patricia and Company offers personal consultation from licensed professionals to help with appearance changes patients may be experiencing as a result of chemotherapy, radiation therapy or post-mastectomy surgery. Choose from a variety of beautiful and comfortable wigs, headwear, breast forms, and post-mastectomy apparel, as well as skin and hair care products.
Founded by Sylvia Caruso, who draws on her many years of experience in helping individuals with hair loss, The Hair Studio and Wig Salon helps clients of all ages with the emotional and practical needs of clients experiencing alopecia hair loss, cancer treatments and other hair loss conditions.
We Beat Cancer works with hospitals, cancer support groups, individuals, and foundations in the New England area to provide financial aid from parking, meals, transportation and hotel accommodations, to wish list requests from area hospitals. Such hospital items have ranged from a Bose surround sound system to a mammogram x-ray chair.
Cancer treatments, work schedules, and life responsibilities can take a toll on families. The cost of transportation to and from treatments and support groups can add additional pressures. The following organizations are here to help.
BACK UP CHILD CARE
Backup child care is available through the state, with many locations inside hospitals and treatment centers.
The Hope Lodge, located in Worcester, acts as a “home away from home” for patients traveling more than 40 miles to their outpatient treatments. There is no charge to stay at Hope Lodge, for either the patient or his or her caregivers. Patients are allowed one adult guest to stay with them in their room.
Joe’s House is a nonprofit providing an online nation-wide list of places to stay to assist cancer patients and their families find lodging near treatment centers. Joe’s House lists various lodging options throughout the United States that are near to hospitals and treatment centers. Details on each lodging facility are available with information on amenities, rates, reservation methods, and requirements.
Hospitality Homes is a nonprofit organization that provides short-term housing in volunteer host homes for families and friends of patients receiving medical care in the Boston area. Our services are free of charge and are made possible by the generosity of our volunteer hosts and supporters. Founded in 1983, Hospitality Homes was the first program of its kind in the nation. Since then we have served more than 15,300 families.
The Ronald McDonald House at Boston Harbor (formerly Home Away Boston), where families of critically ill children can stay to be close to their child who is receiving treatment in Boston. Each year hundreds of families travel to Boston from locations all over the world to give their child access to the world’s best medical care. In doing so, they face enormous hurdles such as navigating the complexities of the health care system, extraordinarily high local housing costs, and excessive emotional and physical stress. At the Ronald McDonald House at Boston Harbor, we remove the stress of daily living and support families to enable them to focus on what really matters: their child’s health and healing.
